I discovered (okay, somebody told me about it) a feature on my Google+ account that allows me to automatically scan the web for new articles and information in areas of my own personal interest. One of these interests is, of course, essential oils. This morning, this article from the Care 2 Make a Difference website, popped up, so I thought I’d pass it along.
In a nutshell, the article states that the three most important oils to have in your medicine chest are:
- Tea Tree Oil – This oil is known for it’s antibacterial and antifungal properties and can be used to treat acne and other skin problems such as cold sores, and bug bites, among a long list of other things.
- Peppermint Oil – This oil is good for its warming/cooling properties (if you’ve ever tried it, you’ll know that it feels warm and cool at the same t ime when you apply it to the skin. It’s good for clearning up congestion when applied to the chest, which helps with colds and flu. When applied to the temples and forehead, it’s good for headaches and other similar pain as well.
- Lavender Oil – Lavender oil is known most for its calming, relaxing properties. When diffused or applied to the skin, it is known to calm anxiety and help you relax. What you may or may not know, however, is that it’s good for burns. If you keep it in the fridge, the added cooling effect on a new burn is extra-soothing. It helps speed up the healing process.
The article goes on to list several ways that essential oils can be used, both topically and diffused.
Essential oils are truly a wonderful thing to have around, especially if you would rather use natural means to treat things rather than chemicals that come with warnings for all kinds of side effects.
Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing pure, ISO-certified, therapeutic grade essential oils at reasonable prices. Since I have very little overhead and buy directly from a distributor (not an MLM), my prices are significantly lower without a reduction in quality. I have many oils on hand, and can order others. I even have access to many certified organic oils, if that is your preference.
